A brand new academic year has started at the British School of Sofia (BSS). The school yard is brimming with excitement – some are making their first steps, eagerly awaiting everything that the first grade has to bring. Others will be starting the school year for the very last time, a bittersweet moment to be cherished forever.

Each school year is a new beginning. Prior to the start of academic year 2025/2026, the British School of Sofia (BSS) marked a number of important milestones and novelties.

We are already a certified International Baccalaureate PYP school – a major accomplishment that stands as evidence of academic excellence. This IB programme, developed for the youngest learners aged three to 12, is designed to spark lifelong curiosity and desire for learning. We will be providing additional updates about the programme, its importance, and the numerous academic benefits it makes available. 

At the same time, the construction of the new BSS campus is ongoing. In the near future, the school will have a new home that is even more functional and meant to deliver a holistic learning experience.

Our celebration brought the entire school community together, and we were more than happy to welcome students back and let everyone know about the exciting updates.

Traditionally, the first school day has a special guest from the British Embassy in Bulgaria. Mr. Christian Margetts joined the celebration, wishing everyone an exciting year ahead.
