The Future Starts Now: British School of Sofia Open House Day

12 Mar 2026

Making sure your child receives the best education is one of the keys to future success. With so many options, you can easily select the opportunity that’s best-tailored to the needs of your child. Having many choices, however, also complicates the task of picking the right school.

To help you understand the British School of Sofia advantage, we are organising an open house day on March 31. During the event, you’ll meet the teachers, explore some of the projects our students have worked on, tour the facilities, and have your most important questions answered.

When, Where, What?

The British School of Sofia Open House Day will acquaint parents with the educational philosophy and the opportunities the school makes available.

  • When: March 31, 2026, 4:15 PM
  • Who can attend: Parents of children aged 2+ (kindergarten through IB2)
  • Where: 20 Georgi Raichev Street, Vitosha District, Sofia
  • What: The Open House Day will consist of a thorough presentation, a campus walkthrough, a Q&A session for the parents, as well as school project presentations

Why the British School of Sofia?

The British School of Sofia is the only accredited British School Overseas (BSO) in Bulgaria, recognised by the Department for Education of the United Kingdom. We also have IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (IBDP) certification. Adherence to quality standards and an innovative approach result in holistic, trans-disciplinary education that prepares students for the challenges of tomorrow.

At BSS, we focus on whole child development and project-based education. We prioritise intellectual, emotional, social, physical, artistic, and creative growth to help children discover their full potential.

Learning at BSS is:

  • Trans-disciplinary, establishing connections between the various subjects
  • Project-based
  • Inquiry-based, allowing students to research and explore themes of interest
  • Collaborative

Our international community prioritises acceptance and the celebration of cultural differences. The primary language of instruction at BSS is English, but students benefit from an array of opportunities to study languages like Spanish, French, German, Bulgarian, Russian, Arabic, and others.

We believe that the British School of Sofia delivers distinctive advantages in the form of:

  • A wide range of extracurricular activities
  • Field trips and opportunities to explore the world beyond the classroom
  • A focus on sports, wellbeing, and physical activity (our Ski Week is a traditional event that everyone awaits eagerly)
  • Modern facilities, designed to help children learn by playing and engaging in various activities/projects
  • A strong sense of community that also prioritises parental involvement (parents are encouraged to attend presentations and school events, we also have workshops and activities for all members of the BSS community)
  • Ongoing communication, encouraging a productive relationship between educators and parents
