British School of Sofia Performs During the Prestigious Sanremo Junior International Festival of Creativity

27 Apr 2026

Going on an international stage takes courage, talent, and confidence – three skills that all members of the British School of Sofia vocal group possess.

Our Shining Stars have participated in various competitions and music events through the years. They’ve brought home reward after reward, proving just how effective holistic education is.

Little did they know that their biggest challenge and opportunity was right ahead. In the spring of 2026, the BSS Shining Stars conquered the stage of the prestigious Sanremo Junior International Festival of Creativity. The event brings together talented participants from across the world. Many of them prepare for a music career and view this opportunity as a stepping stone that paves the way to stardom in the future.

The British School of Sofia vocal group competed in the Festival of School Musicals, facing off against incredibly prepared competitors like the performers from the Children’s Musical School in Milano (the school gets its students ready for some of the world’s top conservatories and for careers in professional theatre and opera).

It’s incredible to see how students who don’t have specialised musical education can stand their ground against some incredibly prepared and confident singers.

Our Shining Stars attended the Sanremo Junior International Festival of Creativity final round that took place on April 14 at Teatro Ariston – the home of the renowned Sanremo Music Festival (which inspired the Eurovision Song Contest).

This year, the junior talent competition brought together nearly 3,000 participants from over 20 countries, including Italy, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Croatia, India, Lithuania, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and others. Talented students competed in various disciplines like singing, dance, gymnastics, theatre, musicals, fashion, and creative arts.

The festival is one of the most prestigious junior competitions, helping talented performers launch a career in the future. It is often held under the patronage of UNICEF and helps young singers get in touch with industry professionals.

Interestingly enough, the event is more focused on artistic exchange than winning. It encourages young, talented performers to express themselves and showcase their skills, which can have a profound career-defining impact.
