Boriana brings a wealth of knowledge and a profound commitment to her role as the Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural Lead at the British School of Sofia (BSS). With 17 years of teaching experience, 14 of them at the British School of Sofia, Boriana delivers both deep classroom expertise and a strong commitment to developing colleagues and students alike.

She holds Master’s degrees in Philosophy from Utrecht University and in Philosophy Teaching for Secondary School. Boriana also has a diploma in International Education from Cambridge University.

A passionate, student-centred practitioner, Boriana guides students towards transferable understandings of both content and skills, coordinating a concept-based approach to teaching. Within the IB Diploma and Career-Related Programmes, this work spans theory of knowledge (TOK) teaching for a period of 10 years; German Acquisition teaching (10 years); Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) coordination (10 years); as well as Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) teaching and co-ordination (14 years).

Beyond the curriculum, Boriana has led youth development through the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme and as a Model United Nations advisor.

As an in-house trainer, Boriana has experience in teaching colleagues a range of pedagogical approaches like Thinking-Based Learning (TBL), Concept-Based Instruction (CBI), Think Matters, and Youth Effectiveness Training (YET). Boriana is an AI-native teaching and Accelerated Learning (Suggestopedia) practitioner. She is a certified International Education Inspector (Level 2).
