British Science Week 2023

10 Mar 2023

British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths.

Throughout the week, students from all grade levels participated in various science-related activities, experiments, and presentations. The theme for this year's Science Week was "Connection” and the goal was to showcase the practical applications of science in our everyday lives.

On Monday, our students joined an extraordinary journey to the Moon with 'Hello Moon!', a webinar as part of British Science Week 2023. The team shared with us the story of the greatest human adventure ever undertaken - going to the Moon. Together students discovered the exciting history of space exploration, the challenges faced by astronauts, and the scientific discoveries that have changed our understanding of the universe. This was a unique opportunity to learn from an expert and be inspired by the wonders of space.

On Tuesday, the focus was on astronomy. Students from grade 6 studied the solar system and explored the latest discoveries about planets, stars, and galaxies.

Wednesday was all about chemistry, with students, from grade 3, grade 4 and grade 5, conducting experiments to learn about chemical reactions and properties of various substances, which later on Friday was presented by them to our students from Kindergarten to Grade 2.

On Thursday, students learned how to use microscopes and obsered microorganisms. They used microscopes to examine bacteria and other small organisms, learning about their structures and functions.

Finally, on Friday, students showcased their own science experiments and presentations to the school community. There were posters, videos, and demonstrations on a wide range of topics, including biology, physics, and engineering.

We are thrilled to see our students engaging with science in such a fun and interactive way. Science Week is an excellent opportunity for them to explore their interests and passions, and we hope that it will inspire them to pursue careers in STEM fields in the future.

We would like to thank all of the teachers, staff, and volunteers who have made the British Science Week at BSS possible.
