The British School of Sofia had the immense pleasure of hosting the remarkable Gergana Peycheva, Bulgaria’s golden girl! With her decisive victory, she has crowned Bulgaria as the reigning European Women's Chess Champion.

The atmosphere was enthralled as Gergana shared captivating stories of her tournament journey, detailing the strategies and experiences that led to her triumphant win.

The highlight of the event was a simultaneous exhibition match where Gergana showcased her extraordinary skills. She played against ten of our brightest students and several teachers, demonstrating not only her strategic prowess but also her grace and sportsmanship. This unique opportunity allowed our students to test their skills against a champion, providing them with invaluable experience and motivation.

This incredible chess event was made possible thanks to Mrs. Teodora Nenova and the unwavering support of Mr. Simeon Stoichkov. They ensured that this memorable occasion could take place, enriching the educational experience of our students and fostering a deeper appreciation for the game of chess.

Gergana’s visit has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the British School of Sofia community. Her achievements and her inspiring presence have motivated our students to pursue excellence in their endeavours, both in chess and beyond.

We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to host such an extraordinary individual and look forward to following her continued success in the world of chess.
