IB DP Presentation

04 Oct 2020
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme was presented to Grade 11 parents and students.

An information was given on important matters such as what the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is; how we prepare students for the 21st century; what the school aims and expectations are. Students and parents learnt more about the IB Learner Profile, the programme form our IB Coordinator and Depury Headteacher Mrs. Naomi van Wyngaarden. The learner profile is linked with the development of the person, it is also linked to all the classes and lessons.

She underlined that receiving the full IB diploma is a huge achievement and announced that our 2020  cohort has achieved a 100% diploma pass rate. In most of the subjects 100% of our graduates achieved 5 and above which is considered a satisfactory and 7 being the highest mark. Though we have a small cohort of only seven graduates we were able to get way above the statistics as a school.

Where are BSS graduates - Road from BSS - you can find more information here.

The BSS IB programme is tailored to each student and meet everyone's individual goals and interests.

Mrs. Emilia Ilieva, our Academic Dean, revealed some important details of the IB DP's structure, putting emphasis on the balance of the programme that develops students in many different areas, not only academically. IB is trying to develop young people as balanced as possible and that is why one of the IB learner profile's attributes is to be balanced.

There are 6 academic areas and students choose subjects. More information about the model you can find here.

The importance of CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) and TOK (Theory of Knowledge) was underlined several times. And at the foundation of the programme is the international mindedness, which is one of BSS core values. These are needed so the students can reveal their talents in other areas, to have social skills, etc.
