Our Alumna Ana Maria Vasile in an interview for the education magazine Study Abroad Bulgaria. A story about the #RoadfromBSS, about international education and success. You can read more in the magazine that has just been published on media market.

What can you tell us about your education in Bulgaria in British School of Sofia?

The British School of Sofia gave me the perfect knowledge foundation I needed to succeed at University. The IGCSE Program, and most importantly the International Baccalaureate Program has help me built a strong understanding of the core subjects as well as skills, that are currently applicable in my higher-level studies. It is crucial for a student to be able to grasp the very basic and yet essential skills (such as open-mindedness, critical and analytical thinking, reflectiveness) from a very young age , and I believe that through my education at BSS, not only did I understand the key role of these skills, but I also have learnt to apply them in real-life situations.

The high quality teaching as well as the great support from the Teachers have pushed me to grow and become who I am today. It is very important for students to be able to build a strong connection with their teachers, and BSS is the perfect example showing how an effective student-teacher relationships, as well as excellent teaching can show positive outcomes.

Now you are studying in Manchester University. What was the road from British School of Sofia to UK?

As with any student, beginning my higher-level studies has very stressful yet very exciting. It is mainly due to the fact that I was changing the scenery I was used to entirely- new teachers, new system, new friends, you’re facing adulthood on your own!- But this is all something I looked forward to.

I can say that all these challenges along the way, have made me stronger and more determined, which eased the adapting process, therefore I was quickly able to overcome them, and enjoy every bit of my journey as much as I could, and still am.
